Last year, Ferrari built the last "closed" LaFerrari for a special auction to support the reconstruction of central Italy following the devastating earthquake. Number 500 was sold for a whopping $7,000,000, a record for a 21st Century car. Soon after that Ferrari decided to build the LaFerrari Aperta, the open version of the LaFerrari. The last copy was built last month, marking the end of the production of this magnificent car.
And the proceeds of the sale of this car also goes to charity. RM Sotheby will auction off this car and the proceeds will go to 'Save the Children'. The car will have some different exterior features, like the custom white racing stripes and a custom interior. The question is whether the auction will break the record of $7,000,000. With only 210 copies built, the car is more exclusive than its closed brother, so the chances are high that we see another record. The auction will take place on September 9th and you will be able to watch (and bid if you are interested) live on the RM Sotheby's website.
